Debbie Sledge
Debbie Sledge is an American Pop Singer. Who is one of four sisters to lead the vocal group Sister Sledge, the band responsible for the breakthrough album and renowned single of the same name We Are Family in 1979.
Sister Sledge, from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is an American musical vocal group. The group was formed in 1971 and composed of sisters Debbie, Joni, Kim and Kathy Sledge. During the height of the disco era, the siblings achieved international fame.
The year 1979 saw the release of their breakthrough album We Are Family, which peaked at number three on the US Album Chart and included the 1979 US top ten singles. A third single, “Lost in Music,” made it to the top forty in the US. “We Are Family” received a Grammy Award nomination for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.
